It is so thoughtfully made, and for once, I can feel myself represented through a book. That cover is everything I want for a YA Fantasy story that represents my ethnicity.Onto 15 thoughts I had while reading Star Daughter! That being said, I will take into consideration that this is Thakrar’s debut novel and that this novel explores themes and ideas that have yet to be explored. Sheetal’s quest to save her father will take her to a celestial court of shining wonders and dark shadows, where she must take the stage as her family’s champion in a competition to decide the next ruling house of the heavens–and win, or risk never returning to Earth at all. After an accident, Sheetal’s father is hospitalized, and needs a full star to help her heal him. I had the honor to be an ARC reader for debut author, Shveta Thakrar’s, Star Daughter, a mystical tale of a half-mortal, half-star Indian teenager named Sheetal. ![]()
